After resisting any place other than New York City, I relented and enrolled at Savannah College of Art and Design after High School. I fell in love with the school – and I fell head over heals for the charming city and its moss-dripping, tree filled city squares.
I always love going back to my favorite Southern city, especially in May during the SCAD Fashion Show. Although others may argue that St. Patrick’s Day is the best time to visit, in my opinion, SCAD Fashion is the best weekend of the year to be there. The two days are dedicated to graduating Fashion Design seniors who have worked so hard on their collections all year long. This weekend is basically a huge celebration for the incredibly talented and creative students.
When SCAD asked three of my best college girlfriends and me to come back during SCAD Fashion Weekend, I jumped at the chance. We spent the three days mentoring students who were about to graduate and head out into the working world, exploring our old stomping grounds, discovering SCAD's updated facilities, the newest majors and new, cool hot spots. It was so fun to advise and share personal experiences the four of us have had since we left Savannah. The SCAD alumni committee and admissions representatives so graciously hosted us and made sure our weekend was unforgettable. I am grateful to SCAD for the education and opportunities it provided and so proud of SCAD’s dynamic growth in stature and reputation.
I am thrilled to share my photo diary of our fabulous weekend in Savannah. We explored, we ate and we even got to dress up in custom Christopher John Rogers designs for the big show on Saturday night. Scroll down to check out our adventures and get an inside look at a few of my favorite things in one of my favorite places!
